The Laila Peak is a 6,986 meter high mountain in the Rakaposhi-Haramosh Mountains in the southwestern Karakorum in Gilgit-Baltistan , an autonomous region in northern Pakistan .
location
Laila Peak is located between the Haramosh in the south and the Malubiting in the north. Its west side drains into the Haramosh valley to the Indus while its northeast side belongs to the nutrient area of the Chogo Lungma glacier . Under the southeast wall, the Haramosh Glacier also flows northeast to the Chogo Lungma Glacier.
Ascent history
The first ascent was made by members of a Japanese expedition on August 9, 1975. The initially planned ascent over the east ridge was abandoned, Ryuichi Babaguchi and Kohzo Sakai reached the summit after a route with five high camps had been established in the southeast face.
Minor peaks
The Laila West is a 6770 meter high secondary peak of the Laila ( Schartenhöhe : 230 m), which has not yet been climbed.
