Lake Benton is located in southwest Minnesota at the southwest end of the eleven kilometer long lake of the same name. The place is 44 ° 15'42 "north latitude and 96 ° 17'12" west longitude. It extends over 11.97 km², which is spread over 9.79 km² of land and 2.18 km² of water.
The city is located approximately 10 km east of the South Dakota border at the intersection of the US-14 and US-75 .
