Lakobeil is an electronic music project that was founded by Dirk Lakomy and Tobias Birkenbeil in 2002 . The music is based on the 80s , but contains influences from numerous styles from New Wave , Punk , Electronic Body Music , Electro to pop music and jazz to baroque music .

history

The roots of the project go back to 1992 . Both musicians were under contract with Spirit Production at the time : Dirk Lakomy with his band Derrière Le Miroir and Tobias Birkenbeil with his music project Factory Life . An artist friendship was formed, which over the years has developed into an intensive collaboration.

Dirk Lakomy became internationally known with his bands Derrière Le Miroir, In My Rosary and his art photography . Tobias Birkenbeil was successful with his music projects Factory Life, Cytron (in collaboration with Toni Duilo) and DNS . He later concentrated on working as a studio musician and composer of film music for public television.

The first musical collaborations were limited to remixes that Tobias Birkenbeil made for Derrière Le Miroir and In My Rosary . In 2003 , the first joint project under the name Lakobeil “Concept: Non-binding” was realized (published in 2013 as a download album “a concept in 2003”). This was followed by two CDs with radio plays written by Dirk Lakomy.

In 2011 signed Lakobeil a record deal with the label Echozone and the debut CD released "Strange Encounter".
