Lambert Daniel Kastens
Lambert Daniel Kastens (* around 1690 in northern Germany, probably as Lambert Daniel Carstens ; † October 30, 1744 in Viborg , Denmark) was a German organ builder whose main works can be found in Denmark .
biography
Kastens was a student and later a master craftsman of Arp Schnitger in Neuenfelde near Hamburg and after his death took over his authorization to practice organ building for Schleswig , Holstein , Oldenburg and Delmenhorst . Kastens soon had his own workshop in Itzehoe , which was taken over by his colleague Johann Dietrich Busch in 1728. This was justified by his appointment as the royal privileged organ builder for Denmark and Norway in the same year. He came to Copenhagen in 1722 on the recommendation of Vincent Lübeck . Based in the Nordic area, it was then called Kastens. He is considered to be the most important representative of the Arp Schnitger tradition in both countries and in Schleswig-Holstein. Well-known students were Hartvig Jochum Müller (approx. 1716–1793) and Amdi Worm (1722–1791). None of the Kastens instruments have survived , but some brochures have been preserved.
