career

Pfeiffer began his career in 1955 at Borussia Mönchengladbach . By 1963 he played 111 games for Gladbach in what was then the first-class Oberliga West , in which he scored two goals. He made his debut on the start day of the 1955/56 season, on August 27, 1955, in the league. As a center forward, he equalized the lead of the host Duisburger SpV in the 36th minute . In his second league season, 1956/57, he was relegated with Gladbach, he had played 17 games. In winning the runner-up in the 2nd League West in the round 1957/58, Pfeiffer was active in 29 games and scored one goal. Albert Brülls was the top scorer with 23 goals. In the 1960/61 season, the meanwhile regular player in the right defensive position experienced his most successful year with sixth place in the league and the success in the DFB Cup in 1960 in the first half of 1960/61. On August 6, 1960, BMG prevailed against Borussia Dortmund with a 4-3 victory in the semi-finals of the West German Cup . The right defender fought the Dortmund left winger Hans Cieslarczyk . He formed the defender couple with Heinz de Lange . When Mönchengladbach won the West German final with a 3-1 win over 1. FC Köln on August 24th, he again defended with de Lange. In the semi-finals of the DFB Cup on September 7, at the reigning German champions of the year 1960 , Hamburger SV , he kept their international left winger Gert Dörfel in check in their 2-0 win . On October 5, 1960, Pfeiffer and de Lange formed the Gladbach defender pair in the DFB Cup final against Karlsruher SC , as usual . Pfeiffer eliminated the left wing Reinhold Nedoschil at KSC . The team from Niederrhein won the final with 3-2 goals and was thus qualified for the first ever European Cup Winners' Cup. Lambert Pfeiffer came in the two quarter-finals in November 1960 against the eventual finalists Glasgow Rangers (0: 3, 0: 8) for use. He played his last league game on March 24, 1963 in the 4-0 defeat by Black and White Essen .
