career

De Lange played 145 games for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Oberliga West from 1955 to 1963 , in which he was unsuccessful. After the introduction of the Bundesliga in 1963 , Gladbach initially had to compete in the second-class Regionalliga West , where de Lange was used six times. In the following season, at the end of which he was promoted to the Bundesliga, he was part of the squad, but was not used. After he no longer was used in the next Bundesliga season, he moved to the season 1966/67 to VfR Neuss in the West Regional.

The defender made his debut on March 4, 1956 in the Oberliga West. Gladbach lost the game at Rot-Weiss Essen with 2: 5 goals. In the relegation season 1956/57 he came to three league missions. When Borussia succeeded in returning to the league immediately with the runner-up in 1957/58 in the second division, de Lange had played 15 games. In the next five rounds, the defensive player always belonged to the regular formation of the Bökelberg -Elf. In the three rounds 1958/59, 1960/61 and 1962/63 he was not missing in any round game; in the world championship year 1962 only in a league game. De Lange experienced his best season in 1960/61 with sixth place in the league and success in the DFB Cup in 1959/60 in the first half of the 1960/61 season. On August 6, 1960, Borussia Mönchengladbach prevailed against Borussia Dortmund with a 4-3 victory in the semi-finals of the West German Cup. The left defender fought against the Dortmund right winger Gerhard Cyliax . He and Lambert Pfeiffer formed the defender couple. When Mönchengladbach won the West German final with a 3-1 win over 1. FC Köln on August 24, his duel partner was Cologne winger Karl-Heinz Thielen . In the semi-finals of the DFB Cup on September 7, at the reigning German champions of the year 1960 , Hamburger SV , he kept their right- winger Klaus Neisner in check in the 2-0 win . On October 5, 1960, Pfeiffer and de Lange formed the Gladbach defender pair in the DFB Cup final against Karlsruher SC , as usual . The team from Niederrhein won the final with 3-2 goals and was thus qualified for the first ever European Cup Winners' Cup. In the cup final, de Lange successfully fought the KSC winger Willy Reitgaßl . Heinz de Lange was used in the two games in November 1960 against the eventual finalists Glasgow Rangers (0-3, 0-8).

On the last day of the old first-class Oberliga West, May 11, 1963, the defender was also active. Gladbach separated from Westfalia Herne in the stadium at Schloss Strünkede with a 4-4 draw. The team-mates on the defensive were Manfred Orzessek in goal and Albert Jansen , Gerd Schommen , Walter Wimmer and Heinz Lowin .
