State trade promotion agency for the North Rhine-Westphalian craft
The Landes-Gewerbeförderungsstelle des Nordrhein-Westfälischen Handwerks (LGH) is an economic development and service organization for the craft in North Rhine-Westphalia . Your seat is in Düsseldorf . The LGH is supported by the seven chambers of trade and a large number of trade associations in North Rhine-Westphalia. It was founded in 1954 by a spin-off from the West German Chamber of Handicrafts as the “head, control and ideas center for North Rhine-Westphalian handicrafts”. It has the legal form of a registered association and does not pursue any commercial goals.
Goal setting
The association supports these organizations with funding measures and coordinates the activities at the state level in order to sustainably improve the performance and competitiveness of the almost 190,000 craft companies in North Rhine-Westphalia. The focus is on the areas of business start-ups and takeovers, management consultancy , training and further education, securing the future of craft businesses and technology transfer . There are also cross-border projects, including with the Netherlands. In addition, the LGH is technically involved in shaping the SME policy and takes on orders for public funding and projects. Since 2016, it has been cooperating more closely with the Ministry of Economics, Innovation, Digitization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of public-public cooperation . Not only the support for the master start-up bonus NRW and the remaining processing of the start-up bonus NRW, but also the new innovation cluster handicrafts NRW are handled in this form for the Ministry of Economics, whereby the LGH is no longer the recipient of funding, but the granting authority. Topics in the field of training and further education include the promotion of inter-company training and vocational training facilities for the skilled crafts, the transition from school to work or training, stays abroad for trainees or in development cooperation as well as conflict management and the coexistence of different cultures.
The chairman is Berthold Schröder, President of the Dortmund Chamber of Crafts . The general manager is Matthias Heidmeier (also general manager of the West German Chamber of Crafts ).
Members are the seven Chambers of Crafts in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Handwerkskammer Aachen , Handwerkskammer Dortmund , Chamber of Crafts Dusseldorf , Handwerkskammer Münster , Chamber OWL Bielefeld , Chamber Südwestfalen , Chamber of Cologne ), craft trade associations and nine facilities that are close to the craft.
Awards
The learning game The Skillz , created in cooperation with LGH, received the German developer award in the category “Best Educational Game 2010” and the “Serious Games Award” in bronze.
The concept for the additional qualification for apprentices to become “assistants for energy and resources” was awarded the Hermann Schmidt Prize for innovative developments in vocational training practice in the same year.
The LGH's “letsgo-azubi.de” portal was honored with a special prize as “Best Community” in the “Paths to the Net” competition organized by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology .
