The State Horticultural Show Schmalkalden 2015 was the third State Horticultural Show of the State of Thuringia . It was held from April 25 to October 4, 2015 and had the motto “Garden Time Travel”.
Application and award
The city of Schmalkalden applied on September 30, 2008 to the Thuringian Ministries for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Agriculture and Forests as well as the State Horticultural Show of Hesse and Thuringia for the third Thuringian State Garden Show 2013. A year later on September 27, 2009, the Thuringian State Government announced that that the city of Schmalkalden will host the 2013 State Garden Show. In November 2010 the city of Schmalkalden and the Thuringian state government decided to extend the preparation time. Thus, the state horticultural show only took place in 2015.
State horticultural show grounds
The state horticultural show site consisted of the following six park areas on an area of 13 hectares:
- Westendpark - time for change,
- Viba-Park - time for sensuality,
- Sick ponds - time for naturalness,
- City park - time for togetherness,
- Historic city center - time for memory and
- Terrace garden at Wilhelmsburg Palace - time for beauty.
