Landscape protection area Berlarer Bach / Nierbach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The landscape protection area Berlarer Bach / Nierbach with 21.39  hectares is located south of Velmede in the municipal area of Bestwig and in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) in 2008 with the Bestwig landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . The LSG is one of 17 landscape protection areas in the municipality of Bestwig. In the municipality there is one type A landscape protection area, ten type B landscape protection areas and six type C landscape protection areas . The Berlarer Bach / Nierbach landscape protection area has been designated as type C LSG, meadow valleys and significant extensive grassland in the municipality of Bestwig.

In the LSG there are river areas of Berlarer Bach and Nierbach with floodplain . The LSG consists of four sub-areas. A partial area begins on the southern edge of the village of Berlar . Another area begins at the northern edge of the village. The third sub-area with the Berlarer Bach is a little further north and goes as far as a farm near Halbeswig . The fourth sub-area is located northwest or west of Nierbachtal am Nierbach.

Protection regulations

As in the other type C landscape protection areas in the Bestwig landscape planning area, this LSG prohibits the conversion of grassland and fallow grassland into arable land or other forms of use. First afforestation and the creation of Christmas tree crops is prohibited. A maximum of two years of arable use within twelve years is permitted, provided that this prepares the renewal of the sward. This is considered an extended nursing shift . In the case of extended care changes , a minimum distance of five meters from the central water bed must be maintained.

Protection purpose

The designation was made to supplement the nature reserve designation in the valley floodplains of Bestwig to create a network of open-land biotopes so that animals and plants can keep migrating and spreading, and to preserve the occurrence of protected bird species and the protection of species-rich plant communities.

According to the landscape plan, the unobstructed streams such as the Nierbach and Berlarer Bach represent outstanding refuge and networking biotopes. The preservation of grassland in the LSG also serves to protect groundwater and flowing water, as well as to protect biotopes and species .
