The Nierbach is a 10.1 km long orographically left tributary of the Ruhr in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis , Germany .
geography
The Nierbach, which is also called Neismecke in the upper reaches south of Blüggelscheidt , rises about 1.5 km northwest of Brabecke at an altitude of 600 m above sea level. NN in the south of the massif of the Bastenberg , which it cuts through about the middle in its later course to the north-northwest and separates the Bastenberg (745.1 m) from the Hockenstein (693.4 m). After emerging from the massif, the Nierbach flows mainly in a northerly direction. It flows through the villages of Blüggelscheidt and Nierbachtal , which was named after the brook after the municipal reorganization, as otherwise there would have been two districts with the name Grimlinghausen in the municipality of Bestwig. Finally the stream flows into Wehrstapel at 274 m above sea level. NN left in the Ruhr .
On its way from the source to the mouth, the Nierbach overcomes a height difference of 326 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 32.3 ‰. It drains a 19.369 km² catchment area via the Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea .
Tributaries
The most important tributary of the Nierbach is the 3.1 km long Berlarer Bach (GKZ: 2761346). Other tributaries are the Nier (GKZ: 2761342, also Harbach) with a length of 2.6 km and the Mosebollerbach (GKZ: 2761344, length 2.1 km).
