history

Blüggelscheidt was first mentioned in a document around 1414 and 1434. Part of the possessions of the manor of the von Berninghausen family were located in Blüggelscheidt . Early clues about the size of the place emerge from an appraisal register for the year 1543. According to this, there were seven persons subject to appraisal in “Bluenscheidt”; the number should have agreed with the farms or houses that existed at the time.

From the 19th century, Blüggelscheidt belonged to the political community of Remblinghausen. Since the reorganization by the Sauerland / Paderborn law on January 1, 1975, Blüggelscheidt has belonged to the Hochsauerlandkreis and is a district of the city of Meschede. In 1991 the former school and the teacher's house were added to the list of monuments of the city of Meschede .

religion

St. Sebastian Chapel

Blüggelscheidt belongs to the Catholic parish of St. Jakobus Remblinghausen . The St. Sebastian Chapel located in the village was demolished between 1880 and 1885 and subsequently rebuilt. In 1904 the chapel was lengthened by four meters. With the help of the neighboring population, the side walls were widened and the sacristy completed from September 1946 . The new chapel was consecrated three years later.
