Enkhausen is a district of Meschede in the Hochsauerland district and is located about 4.5 kilometers southwest of the core city on Hennesee .

history

Enkhausen was first mentioned in a document in the 14th century. The place name is probably a formation from a personal name Thedi or Thedo and -inghausen . The T- at the beginning of the word was retained until the early modern era and was later dropped. In the beginning, a distinction was made between Ober- and Niederenkhausen. Around 1819 there were 58 residents in seven houses. The place was formerly on the Henne and was moved about 500 meters to the southwest in the 1950s because of the enlargement of the Hennetalsperre. Some houses were also built directly on Bundesstraße 55 .

Enkhausen belongs to the parish of St. Jakobus Remblinghausen. Until the local reorganization, which came into force on January 1, 1975, Enkhausen was part of the Remblinghausen community .
