coat of arms

"Coat of arms of the Danube Swabians", Hans Diplich , 1950

In 1950, Hans Diplich designed the "coat of arms of the Danube Swabians", which the Landsmannschaft uses as a logo . A red armored, soaring black eagle on a golden background, divided by a blue wavy bar. The lower half shows a six-towered white fortress with a curtain wall and red-roofed buildings on green arable land. On the left of the coat of arms is the shining sun, on the right the waning moon.

The eagle symbolizes the historical patronage of the emperors of Austria . The blue wavy bar stands for the Danube as a stream of fate , on which the ancestors once drove downstream in the Swabian trains with Ulmer Schachteln and Kelheimer Platten to their new home. The rising, shining sun symbolizes the growing influence of Christianity and also stands for Eugene of Savoy , the waning moon (☾) as a secular symbol of Islam, the dwindling influence of the Ottoman Empire . The buildings represent the Timisoara fortress in the midst of fertile farmland, with the castle as a symbol for the imperial fortifications and the military border against the Ottomans . The six towers of the fortress represent the six main settlement areas of the Danube Swabians. The German national colors black-red-gold and the Danube-Swabian tribal colors white-green were used . White is a symbol of the peaceful spirit of the Danube Swabians, green as the color of hope for the new land that has become a granary .

The Latin motto is "Semper atque semper liberi ac indivisi" ( German  forever free and undivided ).
