Langardara is a jamoat in the Tajik province of Chatlon with 3311 inhabitants.

location

Langardara is located near the border with the Autonomous Province of Berg-Badachschan in the province of Chatlon. The landscape is shaped by the western foothills of the Pamir Mountains , which are responsible for the sparsely populated region. The main places of the jamoat are Langara and Nishorak.

Living conditions

Many of the residents of Langardara came to Langardara from the surrounding districts of Farkhor and Hamadoni in the late 1980s to continue their original way of life. In what was then Soviet Tajikistan , the new residents of Langardara were guaranteed state support for basic services. With the collapse of the Soviet Union and Tajik independence in 1991, infrastructure measures in the region were neglected and the living conditions of the people in Langardara became increasingly difficult. The water supply in the Jamoat was a major problem for the population. Thanks to a project by the Aga Khan Foundation with the support of the European Union , it was possible to install a functioning system for the supply of drinking water, which meant a significant improvement in living conditions in the region. Further projects to improve the situation in the region are planned.
