The south bank of the Lanser See

The Lanser See is a bathing lake near Lans in the southeast low mountain range above Innsbruck . The lake has a water surface of 2.7 hectares and a maximum depth of around 10 m.

geography

The Lanser See lies west of Lans below the Lanser head at 840  m above sea level. A. It is a moor lake that is fed by the water lily pond in the northeast and by groundwater. It drains in the southwest over the Lanser-See-Bach. This flows west through the Viller Moor to Vill , where it flows into the Viller Bach , which flows into the Sill after about 2 km in the Sill Gorge .

From the point of view of its origin, the Lanser See is a dead lake , that is, it was created by the melting of a sediment-covered body of ice from the end of the ice age lying at this point.

history

Lake Lans was 1328 by Henry II. The Wilten in return for the effort involved in his wedding festivities with Beatrice of Savoy bequeathed. The lake was nationalized under the Bavarians and sold in 1808. The first bathing hut was built in 1847. Only men were allowed. In 1908 the bathroom was enlarged and a separate ladies' bathroom was set up. Lanser See has been a family pool since 1935/36.

The Lanser See is a nutrient-rich body of water and is in a stable, eutrophic basic state. The viewing depth is usually less than 2 m. The microbiological bathing water quality was rated as good in 2011 and 2012 and excellent in 2013.

use

The Lanser See is a lake for swimming, the water temperature reaches around 25 ° C in summer. If the weather conditions allow, the Lanser See is used for ice skating in winter.

The lake is connected to the tram line 6 and the bus line J of the Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe .
