Lara Wolters (born April 12, 1986 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch politician of the Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA). Since July 4, 2019, she has been a member of the European Parliament of the Party of European Socialists (PES) in the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Social Democrats (S&D).

Life

Wolters studied at University College London from 2004 to 2008 , and as part of the Erasmus program , she spent a year at the Institut d'études politiques de Strasbourg (Sciences Po Strasbourg ) in 2006/07 . During this time she was also a trainee at the European Parliament . She then attended Vocal Tech London College & University in London for a year and the College of Europe in 2009/10 . From 2012 to 2014 she was a consultant at Afore Consulting , after which she was employed at Norton Rose Fulbright until 2016 . From 2016 to 2019 she was political advisor to the delegation of the Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA) and the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Social Democrats (S&D) in the European Parliament.

After the European elections in the Netherlands in 2019, she replaced Frans Timmermans , who renounced his mandate, as a member of the European Parliament . On July 4, 2019, she became a full member of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China and an alternate member of the Delegation for relations with the United States in the ninth legislature. On July 16, 2019, she also became a full member of the Committee on Budgetary Control and the Legal Affairs Committee, as well as an alternate member of the Committee on Culture and Education for the Party of European Socialists (PES) in the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Social Democrats (S&D).
