Norton Rose
The origin of the British Norton Rose goes back to 1794. Over time, the firm grew into one of the leading forces in London, until it merged in 1690 with Botterell & Roche, a law firm specializing in shipping law. As a result, it benefited from the growth in world trade and was among other things. a. involved in the nationalization of British Steel. In the years that followed, Norton Rose began international expansion through double-digit office openings in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. This was followed by mergers with other commercial law firms, around 2010 with the Australian Deacons, in 2011 with the South African Deneys Reitz and the Canadian Ogilvy Renault or a year later with the local competitors of Macleod Dixon.
Fulbright & Jaworski
In 2013, Norton Rose finally joined forces with the US law firm Fulbright & Jaworski, which was founded in 1919 with a focus on consulting in the financial sector. After the firm started advising in the raw materials business from 1930 onwards, Fulbright continued to expand, especially within its main market - the United States - and gained national reputation and a. by appointing her co-founder Leon Jaworskis as special investigator in the Watergate affair . At the end of the 1980s, the firm merged with Reavis & McGrath as part of the largest US law firm merger to date.

Today's law firm in the legal form of an association under Swiss law is therefore characterized by two strong, eponymous law firm parts, so that from a German point of view it can neither be considered a classic US nor a traditional British partnership. However, most of its central facilities are based at the de facto headquarters in London. Since the merger, Norton Rose Fulbright has swallowed other competitors, including Bull Housser from Canada and, in particular, Chadbourne & Parke in the United States (both in 2017). Around 7,000 people, including over 4,000 professionals, are now active in all areas of commercial law at 50 locations.

Within the group of globally leading commercial law firms, Norton Rose Fulbright also follows the so-called full service approach, i.e. offers comprehensive legal advice in all core areas of client matters. Her main area of advice is in the financial market , the energy sector , the healthcare sector , the logistics sector and, in particular, in the area of infrastructure , mines and raw materials . In addition to advising on transactions, projects and capital changes, Norton Rose Fulbright is also active in litigation and internal investigations and represents, among others, Jared Kushner, chief advisor to US President Donald Trump , in the so-called Russia affair .
