The Larchetkarspitze ( 2541 m above sea level ) is located between the Pleisenspitze in the west and the Großer Riedlkarspitze in the east in the Hinterautal-Vomper chain . It is a popular ski tour in winter and spring and serves as a worthwhile alternative destination to the Pleisenspitze. From the Pleisenhütte you cross along the summer path into the Mitterkar. The summit flank is about 40 degrees steep and leads to the right into a notch. From there it goes in difficulty III− (UIAA) to the highest point.
Hermann von Barth made the first ascent in 1870 on a complicated path that is no longer used today. Today's normal route from 1899 was first climbed by Otto Ampferer and Willi Hammer from Innsbruck .
