The Große Riedlkarspitze is 2585 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Karwendel in Tyrol in the Hinterautal-Vomper chain . Neighboring peaks are the Breitgrieskarspitze ( 2590 m above sea level ) in the east and the Larchetkarspitze ( 2541 m above sea level ) in the west.
The 8-hour path ( Toni-Gaugg-Höhenweg ) from the Pleisenhütte to the Karwendelhaus passes below the summit, but the Riedlkarspitze is usually not crossed during the transition. There is no way to the summit. From the Riedlkarscharte (best to be reached from the south from the Hinterkar, but also from the Großer Riedlkar from the north) the west ridge leads to the summit in difficulty level I (UIAA) . The east ridge also has difficulty I. The walking time from the Pleisenhütte is 3.5 hours, from the Karwendelhaus 4 hours.
To the northwest, about one kilometer away, is the Kleine Riedlkarspitze ( 2244 m above sea level ) below the northern slopes of the Larchetkarspitze.
Geologically, the Große Riedlkarspitze, like a large part of the Karwendel, is made of Wetterstein limestone.
