The Breitgrieskarspitze (often incorrectly Breitgriesskarspitze ) is 2590 m above sea level. A. high summit in the Karwendel in Tyrol in Austria . Neighboring peaks are the Große Seekarspitze ( 2677 m above sea level ) in the east and the Große Riedlkarspitze ( 2585 m above sea level ) in the west.
The 8-hour trail from the Pleisenhütte to the Karwendelhaus ( Toni-Gaugg-Höhenweg ) leads past just below the summit , which is why the summit is often visited. To do this, after reaching the south ridge, you can climb to the summit in about 10 minutes without a path, but without difficulty . The walking time from the Pleisenhütte is 3.5 hours and from the Karwendelhaus 4 hours.
Below the east wall on the Breitgrieskarscharte ( 2388 m above sea level ) there is a bivouac box as emergency shelter in the event of a sudden fall in the weather on the transition from the Pleisenhütte to the Karwendelhaus. It is a discarded cabin of a mountain rescue rescue vehicle.
Geologically, the Breitgrieskarspitze, like a large part of the Karwendel, is made of Wetterstein limestone.
