Larisa Ceric

Larisa Cerić (born January 26, 1991 in Travnik ) is a judoka from Bosnia and Herzegovina .

Athletic career

The 1.76 m tall Larisa Cerić took second place in the heavyweight division behind the Slovenian Lucija Polavder at the 2009 Mediterranean Games . Three months later she won the U20 World Championships. In late 2009, she won a bronze medal at the U23 European Championships. In 2010 she finished seventh at the European Championships , fifth place at the U20 European Championships, seventh place at the U20 World Championships and second place at the U23 European Championships. After a weaker year in 2011, Larisa Cerić won the 2012 U23 European Championships. In 2013 she took seventh place at the European Championships , third place at the Mediterranean Games and seventh place at the Universiade. At the 2013 World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, she was defeated in the quarterfinals against the French Émilie Andéol . After defeating South Korean Kim Min-jung, Cerić was defeated by Japanese Megumi Tachimoto in the battle for a bronze medal . In 2014 she won her first medal at the European Championships in Montpellier . After beating the Lithuanian Santa Pakenytė in the round of 16 and Lucija Polavder in the quarter-finals, she defeated the German Jasmin Külbs in the semi-finals . In the final she was then defeated by Émilie Andéol.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Larisa Cerić was eliminated in her first fight against the Tunisian Nihel Cheikh Rouhou . The following year she was defeated by Belarusian Maryna Slutskaya in the quarter-finals of the 2017 European Championships in Warsaw . Larisa Cerić secured a bronze medal with victories in the hope lap over the Hungarian Mercedesz Szigetvári and the Turkish Kayra Sayit . She finished seventh at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest. In 2018 she defeated the Ukrainian Jelysaweta Kalanina in the semifinals of the European Championships in Tel Aviv , in the final she was defeated by the French Romane Dicko . Five months later she defeated Irina Kindzerska from Azerbaijan in the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Championships in Baku and lost to Sarah Asahina from Japan in the semi-finals . With a victory over the British Sarah Adlington , she secured a bronze medal. Larisa Cerić reached the final of the 2019 European Championships, which were held as part of the European Games in Minsk, but lost to Maryna Slutskaya from Belarus.

Larisa Cerić won 14 national championship titles from Bosnia and Herzegovina until 2018.
