Larissa Strogoff (* 1974 ) is a German chanson and folk music singer .

Life

Strogoff is of German-Russian-Polish-Hungarian descent. She was born in 1974 in North Rhine-Westphalia as the second of three children . First she trained as a goldsmith in Düsseldorf and later her exam as a state-recognized occupational therapist .

Larissa Strogoff began with Russian folklore and gypsy music as a child. In 1990 she appeared on the ARD show "Let yourself be surprised" with Rudi Carrell . Her aunt had previously sent a cassette to the editorial office without her knowledge. She interpreted the song " Zigeunerjunge " by Alexandra . Several offers followed, but because of the great vocal resemblance to the singer Alexandra, they were broken again. Instead she went on concert tours with her balalaika ensemble " Samowar ".

In 2003 she was discovered by the music producer Michael Bensen. Larissa began to write her own German-language songs and develop her own style. Her first single helped her breakthrough, and this was followed by TV appearances on " Musikantendampfer ", " Musikantenstadl ", in "Kein Schöner Land", "Blau-weiß sounds am Schönsten", in "Achim's Hitparade", im WDR television " Schöne Bescherung " and the "Große NDR-Schlagernacht 90.3". Between 2003 and 2014, 20 singles and four CD albums with mostly own German-language songs, as well as an album with traditional Russian gypsy music, were released.

In between, Larissa Strogoff repeatedly withdrew into her private life for family reasons. From 2010 she devoted herself intensively to traditional Russian Roma music with her gypsy ensemble "Latcho" .
