Lawrence Frederick "Larry" Kert (born December 5, 1930 in Los Angeles ; died June 5, 1991 in Manhattan , New York City ) was an American theater and musical actor .

Life

Kert was born to Jewish parents and had three siblings. He grew up in Los Angeles. He visited with his sister Anita , the Hollywood High School . Kert completed an apprenticeship as a theater actor. In 1957 he played the leading role of "Tony" in the original cast of the musical West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim . In the following decades he was engaged as a musical actor in various roles.

Kert died in Manhattan in 1991 . His longtime partner was Ron Pullen.
