Lars-Magnus Lindgren , actually Lars Magnus Lindgren (born July 23, 1922 in Västerås , † November 23, 2004 in Nacka ), was a Swedish director and screenwriter .

biography

Lindgren completed an engineering degree after completing his school education. He then started to work for the Swedish company Sandrews , where he was commissioned with the production of advertising films and thus produced around 30 short films. He made his debut as a director in the film industry in 1957 with En drömmares vandring , a film adaptation of the biography of the writer Dan Andersson . For this he was then awarded the encouragement prize ( Uppmuntringspris ) by the Swedish weekly magazine Folket i Bild .

His 1964 film Lieber John ( Kare John ) was nominated for an Oscar in 1966 for Best Foreign Language Film . His other best-known works included the film Svarta palmkronor from 1968, which is based on the story of the writer Peder Sjogren from 1944. After some great successes and ups and downs in his career, he finally stopped working in film production. Lindgren wrote his last screenplay for Lejonet och jungfrun , where he also directed and in 1980 he was the last director of the television film Styv kuling .

Lars-Magnus Lindgren was the son of the Swedish engineer Peter Lindgren , who was also the representative and representative of the Swedish electrical engineering company Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget (ASEA) in the Soviet Union . and the actor's brother Peter Lindgren and the actress' uncle Monica Nielsen .

Lars-Magnus Lindgren was married three times, first to Kerstin Lindgren (1927-2008) with whom they had two children. In his second marriage he was married to the Swedish fashion designer and model Gunilla Pontén (* 1929) with whom they had a daughter. After the divorce of this marriage, Vibeke married for the third time Lindgren (* 1936), with whom he had a son and who in turn is married to the writer Mariette Glodeck .
