Lars Klinting

Lars Reinhold Klinting (born April 25, 1948 in Södermalm ; died December 9, 2006 in Bromma ) was a Swedish author and illustrator .

Life

The carpenter Klinting made his debut in 1982 with the children's book Örjan - den höjdrädda örnen , which was filmed by Hamid Navim in 1999 and was nominated for the Swedish Guldbagge film award in the “Best Short Film” category the following year . He wrote about 20 books of his own, including seven books about the beaver Kasimir and his friend Frippe , which were also published in Germany . Another twelve books by other authors were illustrated by him.

Over the course of his career, Klinting has received several awards, including the WWF Årets Pandabok Prize for the children's book of the year and the Elsa Beskow plaque for his complete work. After Klinting's death, the Swedish publisher Alfabeta bokförlag donated the “Castor Prize” (the beaver's Latin name is Castor fiber ) in 2009 in his memory.
