backgrounds
After the great success of his previous single Earthquake , with which he was able to advance to number two in the British charts, the expectations of Labrinth were high. Last Time was previously played on Labrinth's BBC Radio 1Xtra live tour before the song was heard in full for the first time on January 30, 2012 on Greenwich Mean Time radio . When the song was released it quickly became a success. In the song, Labrinth was about showing another side of himself. He tried to bring his song towards dubstep . “It's quite electronic, but when you really listen to the detail of the music, you can understand that it's really musical, and I think it shows another side.” (“It's electronic, but if you listen carefully, you understand how melodic it really is, and I think it shows another side. ")
Music video
The official music video for the song, shot by Colin Tilley, was first released on February 24, 2012, after a lyric video had appeared on Labrinth's official Vevo channel on January 30 . At the beginning of the video you see a little boy turning a globe . Suddenly there is an alien being in his room , pouring a green substance onto the floor. A kind of warp arises into which the alien and the little boy jump one after the other. You find yourself in a large meadow, and the alien shows the boy buildings like the Eiffel Tower . They then come to a beach, where they are waved to. You come to a hill where some blue aliens are dancing. They continue their journey, in some places Labrinth is with them. Labrinth sings in the video while the alien and the boy travel, always alternately sitting in different places in the world and sitting on a chair. At the end of the video you can see the boy coming out of the warp field into his room and looking at his now blue glowing globe.

criticism
The single has received mostly positive reviews so far. Lewis Corner from Digital Spy said about the song:
"[...] Lab declares over an ear-snagging mix of rolling bass and a jubilant string section that hurtles towards the clouds. The final result is like British Airways' First Class service; immaculately produced, slickly executed and as fresh and fizzy as that complementary glass of champagne. "
and gave the song four stars out of five.
