Knife Party is an Australian house / dubstep duo founded in 2011 by two members of the drum and bass band Pendulum , Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen.
history
Before it became official that the band would be formed, Rob Swire emphasized that the project wouldn't have much in common with Pendulum by posting a sound called Not Pendulum on his SoundCloud page . Their first EP 100% No Modern Talking was first released on December 12, 2011 on the EarStorm label and reached number 32 on the charts in Australia. It contains four tracks: Internet Friends , Destroy Them with Lazers , Tourniquet and Fire Hive . The EP reached a position in the Australian singles charts and the title Internet Friends was able to advance through strong downloads in the British singles charts, which they achieved a single chart placement for the first time.
At the end of 2011, Knife Party released their collaboration with the Swedish DJ and producer trio Swedish House Mafia . The track formed a crossover between their dubstep and the electro house style of the Swedish House Mafia. They reached 63rd place in Germany, 17th place in Sweden, 100th place in their home country and the top 5 in Great Britain. The track sold almost 320 thousand times. The official music video in particular attracted attention. However, this was blocked due to explicit content, which is why a revised version was published shortly afterwards, but the content differed from the original.
A second EP should have been released on May 6, 2012, called Rage Valley , which included the tracks Rage Valley (previously known as Fuck 'em ), Centipede , Sleaze and Bonfire . However, the publication was postponed to May 28, 2012. On that day it was published via Beatport .
On May 6, 2013 the Haunted House EP was released , which contains the four tracks Power Glove , LRAD , EDM Deathmachine and a VIP mix from Internet Friends . The latter was not originally intended for the track list, but since the final version of their collaboration with Hardwell Baghdad was unsatisfactory, they opted for the VIP mix. LRAD , the second song from the EP, reached number 1 in the Beatport Top 100 on the Beatport charts after two days. After two weeks, LRAD was in the top 10 of the main charts. The title stood out stylistically from her other songs and represents one of the co-founders of the 2013 up-and-coming big room track. Power Glove was able to place in the British singles charts.
For the end of 2014 they announced their debut album. This is called the abandon ship and was particularly successful in the USA, Great Britain and their homeland. The songs were stylistically varied. The songs Resistance , Begin Again and Boss Mode were already released as a single in advance .
On November 20, 2015 the EP Trigger Warning was released and the following year Battle Sirens .
The EP Lost Souls was released on July 19, 2019
