Moombahton

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Moombahton is a fusion genre that emerged from house and reggaeton . The first to produce music in this field was Dave Nada (born David Villeagas) in March 2010 in Washington, DC

features

Musically speaking, Moombahton is mainly Dutch House or Electro House , which is played at the usual reggaeton tempo (around 108 to 115 bpm ) and incorporates its specific percussion elements. Other features include "fat basslines , dramatic build-ups, the two-step and fast drum fills ".

Over time, the genre got influences from oriental music again and again. Woodwind instruments such as clarinets are often used. Influences from dancehall and afro music also play a role.

Subgenres such as Moombahcore and Moombahsoul were formed from Moombahton.

origin

Dave Nada was scheduled to DJ at his younger cousin's party in the fall of 2009. There he noticed, however, that people there danced to bachata and reggaeton instead of house and other genres of electronic dance music . He had planned music in these styles. So he tried to pick something in between and decided on Afrojack's remix of Silvio Ecomos & Chuckies Moombah , in which he lowered the number of beats per minute from 128 to 108. So the suitcase word Moombahton was created from the title of this track and the stylistic term reggaeton . Between autumn 2009 and spring 2010 Nada finally recorded an extended play . Tittsworth and DJ Ayres helped him with his doctorate .
