Michael J. Fallgatter (born February 3, 1965 in Offenbach) is a German business economist . He currently works as a professor at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

Life

From 1986 to 1991 Fallgatter completed a degree in business administration at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . The focus was on industrial management and organization . He completed his studies with a degree in business administration . Until 1996 he did his doctorate at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena with his thesis goal-oriented performance assessment. Conceptualization of an assessment procedure for the lower management . During the same period he was already a research assistant at the business administration chair. He then worked for the business administration chair at Bielefeld University and completed his habilitation there in 2002 with a thesis on the theory of entrepreneurship. Perspectives for researching the origins and development of young companies . In April of the same year he was finally officially appointed university lecturer there.

In 2003 he was representative of the professorships for business administration and human resources and organization at the Universities of Siegen and Wuppertal . In 2004 he followed a call to the Bergische Universität Wuppertal to the then Chair for Personnel and Organization, Economics and Social Sciences . Between 2008 and 2016 he was Dean of the Faculty of Economics there .

Honors

In 2003 Fallgatter received the Wolfgang Ritter Prize for excellent scientific achievements in the field of business administration. In the same year he was nominated for the Karl Peter Grotemeyer Prize for his personal commitment to teaching.

Others

From 1996 to 2003 Fallgatter was managing director of the Institute for Personnel and Corporate Management in Bielefeld. He is also currently a member of the Schmalenbach Society for Business Administration , the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration and the Academy of Management .

In the summer of 1999 he was invited as a visiting professor for a research stay at the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurial Studies in Boston , Massachusetts ( USA ). At the end of 2004 he was appointed by the Advisory Board of the Chamber of Public Accountants as a member of the Examination Commission for Public Accountants and Sworn Accountants . In 2006 and 2007 he headed the MBA courses in Organizational Behavior at the Mannheim Business School .
