The Lauberhorn slalom has been held annually since 1930 at the end of the international Lauberhorn races from Wengen in Switzerland on the Jungfrau / Männlichen ski slope . The slalom ends in the same finish as the Lauberhorn descent, which is usually held the day before . The race was named after the 2472 meter high Lauberhorn , the slopes after the two mountains Jungfrau and Männlichen . The slope is considered to be one of the most demanding slalom slopes in the Alpine Ski World Cup : it has a lot of crossings, the steepest section in the middle part of the slope is 72% and the flattest part is just under 4% shortly after the start. The average gradient is around 31 percent.

A special feature of the Lauberhorn slalom is a wooden hut located in the middle of the slope. One of the two slalom runs is always drawn out to the left of this hut, the other on the right. The route that leads past the hut on the left from the perspective of the ski racers is closer to the Jungfrau mountain and is therefore called Jungfrau , the other route is therefore called Männlichen .

Until 2003 , the Lauberhorn slalom on Sunday and the downhill run held the day before formed a combination based on the model of the Arlberg-Kandahar race . In 2004, with the downhill run, the combination classification was also canceled, since 2005 there has been a super combination every Friday , with the slalom run either on the Jungfrau or the Männlichen route . In 2016 , the Lauberhorn slalom was held differently on the lower part of the Lauberhorn run for the first time due to the lack of snow.
