action

The divorced ballet teacher Juliet has had enough of the (in her opinion only sports-obsessed) man's world and wants to venture a fresh start. She leaves Sydney with her ten-year-old son Andy and moves to the sleepy little town of Wilganya in the outback .

Shortly after her arrival, however, new hardships hit her: first of all, the house in which she actually wanted to open her dance school burns down and she stands penniless. And then she involuntarily makes the acquaintance of the local police officer Peter Sullivan when she defends herself against some motorcycle hooligans and drives them off the street. The beginning of disagreements and squabbles between Sullivan and Juliet who are not green from the start.

Juliet is initially given alternative quarters for her school - but notices a little later that this is in the sports center and that she has to share it with the local football teamWilganya Wombats ”, whose coach is Sullivan of all people. The wombats themselves are physically and playfully poor and lose all the time, and Juliet made the team situation even worse by injuring some players (namely the alleged motorcycle hooligans before).

The quarrels between Peter and Juliet reach new heights as both act behind each other's backs. For her part, Juliet believes that ballet training can improve the poor fitness of the wombats , which is why she secretly lets the players practice appropriate jumps and positions. Sullivan in turn turns to Andy and teaches him - against Juliet's will - football.

After the situation improves slightly, Juliet and Peter get closer and the wombats win again, the truth threatens to ruin everything again: the townspeople come to the ballet secret through the strange player habits, Sullivan discovers Juliet's "teaching methods" and Andi's secret training. Tensions between Peter and Juliet boil again and at the zenith of it all, Sullivan puts her in jail. This happens just before the wombats face an important championship game

Ultimately, however, she can rely on the support of the team and those around her. The wombats help her break out, win the game in the end and manage that Juliet and Peter finally reconcile - and become a couple.
