Laura Jung (born June 25, 1995 in St. Wendel ) is a fifteen-time German champion in rhythmic gymnastics .

Jung trained from 2007 to 2016 at the federal base in Fellbach-Schmiden , but started for TV St. Wendel. She was a member of the German national team in singles.

Athletic career

Junior area

In 2010 Laura Jung won the bronze medal together with Jana Berezko-Marggrander at the European Championships in Bremen . In the final with the rope she was eighth and with the clubs fourth.

Senior area

Jung started in the senior sector in 2011 and was five times German champion in June 2011. She won the all-around competition and all four hand-held finals with the hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon. At the European Championships in Minsk, she reached eleventh place again in the team with Jana Berezko-Marggrander. In the individual ranking she came in 23rd. In August 2011 Laura Jung took part in the World Championships in Montpellier and was 19th in the all-around final. This placement gave the German Gymnastics Federation a starting place in the qualifying competition for the 2012 Olympic Games , but Berezko-Marggrander, who had not participated in the World Championships due to injury, took advantage of this.

Jung repeated her success from the previous year at the German championships in 2012. Again, she secured all five titles. She also took part in the European championships in 2012 and came in fifteenth. Laura Jung took second place at the Berlin Masters in October 2012. The first was the silver medal winner of the Olympic Games in London, Darja Dmitrijewa .

At the German Championships in May 2013 she was second in the all -around competition behind Jana Berezko-Marggrander . In the device finals, she was able to secure three more silver medals with the ball, clubs and ribbon. She received the bronze medal for her exercise with the hoop. From May 31 to June 2, 2013, Jung took part in the European Championships in rhythmic gymnastics in Vienna . In the individual ranking she finished 24th. In the evaluation of the best three devices, with 28th place, she missed the qualification of the best 20 for the 2014 European Championships in Baku . In addition, it was planned for young to participate in the team competition together with Jana Berezko-Marggrander. Due to their cancellation due to illness and the failure to report a reserve gymnast by the German Gymnastics Federation, this was not possible. At the 2013 World Championships in Kiev , Laura Jung qualified with 24th place for the all-round final of the best 24th. In the final, she was able to improve by one place to 23rd.

At the German Championships in 2014 in Halle, Jung was German champion with the clubs. In the all-around competition, with the hoop, the ball and the ribbon, she finished second behind Jana Berezko-Marggrander. She had to cancel the 2014 World Championships due to an injury.

In May 2015, Jung took first place with ball and hoop at the German Championships in Leipzig. With clubs and ribbon as well as in the all-around competition, she took second place behind Jana Berezko-Marggrander.

In May 2016 Laura Jung became German champion in all-around and with the clubs in Bremen. This year she was runner-up behind Jana Berezko-Marggrander with a hoop, ball and ribbon. A month later she ended her career as a competitive athlete at the Berlin Masters.
