Herrengedeck - Der Podcast (or in short: Herrengedeck ) is a German-language podcast moderated by Laura Larsson ( real name: Laura Boriczka ) and Ariana Baborie . It has been published every two weeks since November 16, 2016 and weekly since November 17, 2017.
history
Larsson and Baborie met at their common employer, the Berlin radio station 98.8 KissFM , whereupon they decided to start a joint podcast. Since November 16, 2016, podcast episodes of around 90 minutes have been published every two weeks. Since November 2017, thirty-minute short episodes have been published every week under the title “The Short”.
In addition to their streaming activities, the moderators also take part in public events such as the podcast festival “Auf die Ohr” and organize their own live events, such as on December 2, 2017 at the Columbia Theater in Berlin. So far, a total of over 100 podcast episodes have been released that were recorded in the moderators' living rooms. The podcast has been available exclusively on Spotify since September 2019. In August 2019, Larsson and Baborie published their stories as a paperback under the title Herrengedeck: Stories that we would never tell soberly at Kiepenheuer & Witsch .

The content of the podcast is strongly personality-driven and provides the moderators' view of general topics, world events and personal experiences. The long version of the podcast begins with a so-called “personal fact” about both moderators, which addresses the personality and habits of both people. Another category is "Celebrity of the Week".
During a long podcast episode, the two drink the alcoholic drink Herrengedeck. In a short episode, they drink a "short", an alcoholic shot, the recipe of which was sent to them by a listener.
A large part of the content is stories from the private lives of the two moderators. The entertaining, comedic intention of the speakers is always in the foreground.
Reception and awards
Herrengedeck - The podcast is one of the most successful German-language podcasts and has already been number 1 among the top podcast programs in the iTunes podcast charts several times. Together with the podcast Fest & Flauschig by Jan Böhmermann and Olli Schulz, he shared first place in the Podcast Prize 2018 awarded by the Podcast Association in the category “entertainment” on March 10, 2018 in Essen .
In 2019, Herrengedeck was the fifth most streamed podcast worldwide on Spotify. Third place went to Mixed Hack , followed by Fest & Flauschig in fourth place.
