Towed in a Hole (German Movie Title: Fresh fish / boat with small holes / Laurel and Hardy buy a ship ) is an American short film - comedy of comedy duo Laurel and Hardy .

action

Stan and Ollie drive through town in their car, loudly selling fish they've bought at the market with a trumpet. For once, their business is even going reasonably well, but Stan still has an idea how they could increase their profits: If they caught the fish themselves, they would have all the profit in the end. Ollie is so excited about Stan's idea that they both buy a worn-out boat. According to the seller, only a few holes are the problem that still need to be mended. So Stan and Ollie fill the boat with water so they can see the holes. The repair of the boat is severely hindered by Stan and Ollie's clumsiness, which is particularly felt by Ollie, who falls off the boat or gets wet several times. When the boat is finally ready, the whole thing goes wrong: You set sail, whereupon the ship rolls away and smashes. Finally, Stan happily pulls out his fully functional trumpet from the ruins of the ship.

background

The film is almost a solo show by Laurel and Hardy: apart from a brief appearance by Billy Gilbert, only they appear in the film. All scenes except the first take place in the junkyard, where the still inoperative ship is. Towed in a Hole was shot between November 1 and 10, 1932, directed by George Marshall, who was also involved in the script.
