Lauren MacMullan
Lauren Hunter MacMullan (born April 30, 1964 in Boston ) is an American animator , television and film director .
Life
MacMullan graduated from Harvard University , where she also took animation classes. She first worked as a director for commercials from 1991 and worked at Olive Jar Studios. Among other things, she created films for MTV . In 1993 she moved to Los Angeles , where she directed the animated series The Critic . Between 1994 and 1995 she directed four episodes. Further directorial work for series followed, for example for Die Nanny as well as King of the Hill and Mission Hill . MacMullan also directed episodes of the popular animated series The Simpsons from 2001 . She received an Annie Award in 2006 for her directorial work for Avatar - The Lord of the Elements and was nominated for an Emmy in 2007.
In 2009, MacMullan joined Pixar , where she worked on the animated film Newt , but development was discontinued in 2010. She went to Walt Disney Animation Studio the following year and was involved in the film Ralph Enough as a storyboard artist. In the short animation film Get a Horse! she directed a film for the first time and was also the first female director of a Mickey Mouse film. MacMullan was chosen for Get a Horse! Nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Animated Short Film together with producer Dorothy McKim in 2014 .
