Laurence Dumont

Laurence Dumont (born June 2, 1958 in Vincennes ) is a French politician . She was from 1997 to 2002 and has been a member of the National Assembly since 2007 .

Dumont studied math and education and earned a DEA in both subjects . She then worked briefly as a math teacher. In 1986 she joined the Parti socialiste . In 1988 she entered politics as chief advisor to Minister Théo Braun . In 1990 she became an employee of the socialist faction in parliament. With her entry into the council of the 15th arrondissement of Paris , she obtained her first political office in 1995. In the same year she ran unsuccessfully in Paris for the Senate and in a parliamentary by-election, in which she was beaten by Édouard Balladur . In the 1997 parliamentary elections , she ran in the Calvados department and was elected to the National Assembly. In 1998 she also moved to the regional council of the Lower Normandy region . She was voted out of office in the 2002 elections , but was able to return to parliament in the subsequent elections in 2007 . In 2012 she was re-elected.
