Laurens Sweeck 2015

Laurens Sweeck (born December 17, 1993 in Leuven ) is a Belgian cyclist .

Career

Sweeck was Belgian champion in the junior class in cyclocross in 2009 and won the title again in 2011 in the juniors and in 2013 and 2015 in the U23 class. In the 2010/11 season he also won the overall ranking of the junior cyclocross world cup . He has been driving for the Continental Team Corendon-Kwadro since 2014 and won his first race in the elite class at the Grand Prix Möbel Alvisse in Leudelange in January 2014 .

In January 2015, Sweeck was suspected of having been contacted by doctor Dr. Chris Mertens, having subjected his blood to unauthorized ozone treatments, was removed from the squad for the Cyclocross World Championships in Tábor by the Belgian Federation . After a successful complaint by Tom Meeusen, who was also affected, against the association's decision before the Belgian Sports Court, Sweeck was taken back to the World Cup squad shortly afterwards.

Personal

Sweeck is the grandson of Alfons Sweeck , who was also a cyclist. Laurens Sweeck's twin brother Diether and his older brother Hendrik are also active as racing cyclists.
