Tom Meeusen

Tom Meeusen (born November 7, 1988 in Brasschaat ) is a Belgian cyclist who is mainly active in cyclocross .

Career

Tom Meeusen was Belgian cyclocross champion in 2004 in the youth class. The next year he won the cross world cup race in Kalmthout in the junior class and he became national champion in mountain bike cross country . In 2006 he was able to defend the MTB title. He also won the bronze medal at the cyclocross world championships . He won other Belgian championship titles with the U23 in 2008 in cyclocross and in 2009 in mountain bike in 2009.

In the next few years he won numerous competitions in the elite sector. Up to 2015 these included four races of the Cyclocross World Cup and nine races of the Super Prestige . He also won six races of the Bpostbank and GvA-trofee , including four U23 races and won the U23 overall standings in the 2007/08 and 2009/10 seasons. From 2007 to spring 2017 Meeusen was a contract rider with the Fidea Cycling Team , for which he also competed in road races and won a stage of the Tour of Serbia in 2011 . He then moved to the Corendon-Circus team , which received a license as a Professional Continental Team the following year .

After Meeusen was suspected of having performed ozone therapies that violated the doping regulations during his career , the Belgian federation removed him from the roster for the 2015 Cyclocross World Championships , but revised this decision after Meeusen had successfully brought an action against this at the Belgian sports court. Meeusen denies the allegations. He only went to the doctor about problems with the sinuses .
