Laurent Simonetti

Laurent Simonetti (* 1959 ; † April 7, 2008 by suicide ) was a French theater musician who was considered one of the most prominent stage musicians in Germany.

Life

Laurent Simonetti was born near Paris to Italian immigrants and grew up in France . From 1977 he studied accordion at the Hanover University of Music and Theater and worked as a freelance musician and composer since 1982 , initially mainly for various independent theaters in the Hanover area .

Important work

In 1994 he began working with the director Andreas Kriegenburg , for whose productions he regularly played and composed. Joint works with " Kasimir und Karoline ", "Marat / Sade", "Schillers Tell", " Ein Volksfeind " and "Adam Geist" at the Schauspielhaus Hannover , with "Bluebeard - Hope of Women" at the Bavarian State Theater , with "Lulu" at the Burgtheater Vienna and at the Deutsches Theater Berlin .

At the Thalia Theater (Hamburg) Laurent Simonetti wrote the music for Kriegenburg's productions of Maxim Gorki'sNachtasyl ” (2000), “ Children of Olympus ” based on the script by Jacques Prévert (2001), “Life on Praça Roosevelt” by Dea Loher (2004), “ The Maiden of Orléans ” (2005), the world premiere of “Quixote in der Stadt” by Loher / Kriegenburg / Simonetti and “Witches Hunt”, as well as “ The Maids ” by Jean Genet (directed by Stephan Rottkamp) and “The last Fire ”by Dea Loher.

At the Münchener Kammerspiele , where he was responsible for the music for all productions by Andreas Kriegenburg, Laurent Simonetti also worked with Luk Perceval (“ Troilus und Cressida ” by William Shakespeare ) and Stephan Rottkamp (“ Miss Sara Sampson ” by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing ) .

Laurent Simonetti also wrote the score for Florian Iwersen's film "Morgenland" (2001) and appeared as an actor in a TV production of Henrik Ibsen's "Ein Volksfeind".

Laurent Simonetti's main instruments for the composition were the bandoneon and various Roland Sampling keyboard instruments for sound generation.
