Laurentius Blumentrost the Elder , Russian Лаврентий Алферьевич Блюментрост , (born October 29, 1619 in Bothenheilingen ; † October 23, July / November 3,  1705 greg. In Moscow ) was a German physician who became the personal physician of the Tsar.

Blumentrost studied medicine at the University of Helmstedt from 1640 , was a private tutor (informator) in Braunschweig in 1642 and studied at the University of Jena from 1644 and at the University of Leipzig from 1647 , where he received his doctorate on scurvy in 1648 . In 1649 he was the city doctor ( city ​​physician ) in Sangerhausen and in 1651/52 in Mühlhausen , where he was also a councilor. He then worked as a country doctor for Duke Ernst I of Saxe-Gotha . In 1668 he received his doctorate in medicine in Jena and in the same year went to the court of the Russian Tsar Alexei I as personal physician . He was also head of the Peter and Paul Church in Moscow. The establishment of the State Pharmacy Office in Moscow goes back to him.

He had several children, including the three sons Christian, Laurentius and Johannes Deodatus Blumentrost , all of whom were court doctors in Russia.
