Lepistö, who competes for the Kouvolan Hiihtoseura, took part in junior races from 2012 to 2016. At the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2013 in Predeal , he finished 25th in sprint, 14th place over 10 km freestyle and 12th place over 7.5 km classic. In December 2013 he ran his first race in the Scandinavian Cup in Vuokatti , which he finished classically in 156th place over 15 km. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty he came in 27th place over 10 km freestyle, ninth place in the sprint and fourth place with the relay. In February 2016 he became the Finnish junior champion over 15 km classic in Vörå . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râşnov , he won the bronze medal over 10 km classic. In addition, he came there on the 53rd place over 15 km freestyle, on the 18th place in the sprint and on the fourth place with the relay. He made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in November 2016 in Ruka , which he finished classically in 83rd place over 15 km. At the U23 World Championships in 2017 in Soldier Hollow , he achieved 41st place over 15 km freestyle and 26th place in the sprint and the following year at the U23 World Championships in Goms he came 21st place over 15 km classic. In January 2019 he got his first World Cup point in Otepää with 30th place in the sprint.
