Lavelle Felton (born October 5, 1979 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin , † August 13, 2009 ibid) was an American basketball player .

Life

The 1.93 meter tall Felton, used as a point as well as a shooting guard , was described as a player with "long arms, good acceleration and running speed and feel for the ball". He played in the NCAA for Louisiana Tech University in the 2002–03 season before moving to Europe. Felton was active for two seasons with Büyük Kolej in Turkey. In the 2005/06 season he moved first to Greece to Iraklis Thessaloniki , then to ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne in France. He then returned to Greece, now to AEK Athens . In 2007, the Science City Jena signed him , and after the Thuringians were relegated, the Paderborn Baskets brought him to East Westphalia. With 34 season appearances, he played a major role in the Baskets' entry into the play-offs ; however, his contract was not extended.

Felton was seriously injured by a shot in the head at a gas station in his hometown of Milwaukee on August 12, 2009 and succumbed to the injuries the following day at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital .
