Laverda SpA is an Italian manufacturer of agricultural machinery that is part of the AGCO group.

history

Pietro Laverda originally founded "Ditta Pietro Laverda" in San Giorgio di Perlena ( Province of Vicenza ) in 1873 , a workshop that produced equipment for farmers and winemakers as well as tower clocks . After the turn of the century and the move to Breganze , the company was already manufacturing industrial equipment with over 100 employees for agriculture in the process of mechanization. In 1919 the company resumed production after the First World War, and in 1930 Pietro Laverda's grandsons Pietro Jr and G. Battista took over the company from their grandfather.

Laverda entered the harvesting machine sector for the first time in 1938 with the “SL 6” mower binder model, in 1947 Laverda manufactured its first self-propelled mower in Breganza, and in 1956 the first Italian combine was manufactured with the “M 60” . 1977 Fiat Trattori takes over all shares of Laverda SpA In 2001 Fiat Laverda had to sell to Argo SpA in the course of the establishment of CNH Global . In 2004 Laverda SpA took over the German Fella-Werke . In 2007, Argo founded an equal joint venture with the American AGCO Corporation, in which Laverda SpA and thus its German subsidiary Fella were combined. Laverda has been producing combine harvesters for the AGCO brands Massey Ferguson , Fendt and Challenger since 2004 .

At the end of 2011, ARGO sold its stake in AGCO, thereby making both Laverda and Fella 100 percent subsidiaries of AGCO Corporation.
