Le Maosheng (born August 9, 1978 in Ningyuan , People's Republic of China ) is a Chinese weightlifter .

Career

On his debut at the 1997 World Championships in Chiang Mai , Le Maosheng won silver in the duel and push and bronze in the snatch in the class up to 59 kg. Only 400 g more body weight than Stefan Georgiev separated Le from two gold and one silver medals.

After changing the weight classes, he decided not to compete in bantamweight, which was now 3 kg below his current limit, but to switch to featherweight up to 62 kg. Le Maosheng was able to win the Junior World Championships in a sovereign manner, but at the World Championships for athletes in Lahti he had to be satisfied with 5th place.

But just one year later in 1999, Le won two gold medals and set a world record in pushing with 180.5 kg.

At his first Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , he finished an unfortunate 4th place. In 2002 and 2003 Le Maosheng reached 2nd and 3rd place at the World Championships. In Warsaw he also won his only World Cup gold medal in the tear.

His last international competition Le contested the 2004 Olympic Games, where he won the silver medal behind his compatriot Shi Zhiyong and with a clear gap to third place despite only two valid attempts .
