Le Scrawl is a German crossover band from Ferch , which was founded in 1989 under the name Scrawl . The band has already played in the USA , France , Slovenia and the Czech Republic .

history

The band was founded in 1989 under the name Scrawl by guitarist Mario Anders and drummer Peter Weiss. In 1991 keyboard player Michael Kautzsch joined the cast. In 1992 the band recorded their first three demos. After the group was heard with four songs on the sampler I Kill What I Eat by Ecocentric Records in 1993, appearances followed with Anal Cunt , Agathocles and Cripple Bastards . In 1994 a self-titled single on Psycho Mania Records followed, before the EP Q was released on Ecocentric Records in 1995 . For a split release in 1998 called Rotten Fake together with Agathocles and Seven Minutes of Nausea , the band recorded various cover songs. After a few years' break, the compilation Too Short to Ignore followed in 2003 . The CD was released on the Life Is Abuse label , while the LP was released on Regurgitated Semen Records (RSR). The band had previously changed their name from Scrawl to Le Scrawl in 2002 in order not to be confused with a US indie band that bore the same name. After the publication of the compilation, the line-up of the group changed, after which it consisted of the drummer Peter Weiss, the keyboardist Michael Kautzsch and the guitarist Simon Weiss. Guitarist Mario Anders had given up the position of the electric guitar and instead took over that of the singer and bassist. Together with producer Harris Johns they recorded the EP Eager to Please in March and April 2003, which was released in 2004 on Life Is Abuse and RSR. In addition, the DVD Full Frontal Nudity was released, which was also mastered and mixed by Johns. The band can then be seen performing on their California tour and at the Obscene Extreme in Trutnov . The DVD was released in spring 2006. In May 2007 the band recorded the EP Whiskey a Go Go! Again with Harris Johns . in the Music Lab Berlin . This was released in 2008 by Ecocentric Records. In 2010, the next album Snowblind followed through Obscene Productions .

style

According to the band's Myspace page, they were heavily influenced by Grindcore before trying to incorporate other styles such as jazz , ska and swing . Ollie Fröhlich from Ox-Fanzine compared the band on Snowblind with the band Naked City , whereby Le Scrawl not only incorporates jazz, but "something like easy listening jazz with occasional ska interludes or hippiesque interludes leads to grindballs". The singing consists of growling throughout .
