Leandro Barrera (born February 22, 1991 in Godoy Cruz ) is an Argentine football player who is mostly used as a striker . He is currently under contract with the San José Earthquakes .

Career

Barrera began his career in the youth teams of the Argentine first division club Argentinos Juniors . His coach at the time, Pedro Troglio, helped him get his first professional appearance in the Primera División against Club Atlético Huracán in 2010 when he came on for Andrés Romero . For the Argentinos Juniors he played a total of 42 league games and scored three goals.

In 2014 it was loaned to the former MLS franchise CD Chivas USA . There he completed 32 league games and scored one goal.

Since CD Chivas USA stopped playing at the end of the 2014 season, Barrera took part in the MLS Dispersal Draft 2014 , but was not drafted by any other club. In December 2014, he was elected and signed by the San José Earthquakes in the 2014 MLS Waiver Draft . On April 5, he played his first game for the Earthquakes in the 1-0 loss to Real Salt Lake .
