history

This municipality is the geographic center of the USA with the 48 contiguous states (excluding Hawaii and Alaska ). A monument was erected for this in 1941.

The Kyle Railroad runs through the village .

The post office opened in 1961.

Lebanon is one of the real places that appear in Neil Gaiman's novel American Gods . At the monument to the geographic center of the United States of America, the old and new gods meet on neutral ground to negotiate.
