Lebedev gold medal

The Lebedev gold medal ( Russian Золотая медаль имени П.Н. Лебедева ) was named after the Russian physicist Pyotr Nikolayevich Lebedew . From 1972 to 1990 it was awarded by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . Since 1993 it has been awarded by the Russian Academy of Sciences for outstanding achievements in the field of physics. From 1972 to 1996 the medal was awarded every three years, from 1996 the medal is awarded every five years.
