Leendert van Steensel

Leendert "Leen" van Steensel (born April 20, 1984 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch football player .

Career

The defender came to his first professional station FC Utrecht via Be Fair Waddinxveen and VV Moordrecht . Here he made his debut in the Eredivisie on November 30, 2003 against Roda JC . However, the two minutes as a substitute for Jean Paul de Jong remained his only appearance this season. After further short appearances in the following seasons he made his first match over 90 minutes as a central defender alongside Edson Braafheid on December 29, 2005 in a 2-1 win at RBC Roosendaal. After only one more brief assignment in the first half of the 2006/07 season, he switched to the German second division club FC Carl Zeiss Jena during the winter break . After the end of the season he went back to the Netherlands, where he has been under contract with Excelsior since the 2007/08 season . With the Rotterdamers he was relegated at the end of the season and spent two years in the Eerste Divisie , in which, however, he earned a regular position in central defense. In 2010 van Steensel rose again to the Eredivisie with Excelsior. After relegation, he moved to third division VV Capelle in 2012 .
