history

First games and combined islands

The Leeward Islands achieved their first victory against Guyana in the 1968/69 season on February 12, 1969. The Leeward Islands won with 43 runs. From the 1976/77 season, the Leeward Islands took part as an independent team in the one-day competition in the West Indies . Until the 1980/81 season, the players of the Leeward Islands played together with those of the Winward Islands as Combined Islands in the Regional Four Day Competition . After their first win of the championship, the two teams parted ways.

The successful decade

In the 1990s the team celebrated numerous successes and dominated one-day cricket in particular. So they were able to win all games in first-class competition in the 1989/90 season and thus secured the championship before Barbados . In the 1992/93 season they shared the championship in the One-Day Cup with Guyana and the Winward Islands. Until 1997/98 the team was able to compete three times (divided once) in the first-class competition and three times in the one-day competition.
